2020 Peninsula Real Estate Sales Trends During COVID

June 12, 2020

On March 10th, Governor Newsom ordered a shelter in place for the State of California. I ran the numbers directly from the MLS on that day for you guys to see where we were at for the year. Here is a recap of the real estate activity on the Peninsula in 2020, both before and during the SIP as well as the years prior for your reference.

  • Keep in mind that the days on market will be inaccurate and unreliable data as that counter was stopped during COVID in the MLS system. Homes were sold off market during this time and those will always say zero days in MLS.
  • Also, the methods of sale have been a lot different. If the home was occupied, it was unable to be shown during the shelter in place order. Only vacant homes were able to be shown privately, with all health order protocol being followed. So if a home was occupied, they possibly relied on photos or virtual tours in some instances.
  • This chart is viewable in landscape mode on laptops or tablets, however it is too large to fit the entire chart on mobile devices.

This data is intended to give you an idea where the sales trends have been going in 2020. I hope it is helpful in your buying or selling decisions, and as always you can contact me at any time with questions.
