San Francisco Bay Area Tiny Homes or In-Law Unit Options and Ordinances: Oakland | East Bay Edition
If you live in the Bay Area, as of January 1, 2017 you may now have the ability to add a second home, rental unit in areas where in the past you could not! With the recent fires in Sonoma and Napa, and other areas in California our housing shortage is an urgent issue. We can help you understand how to legally add housing for teachers, and firemen, and displaced families on single family lots now! Here is what you need to know.
State of California Senate Bill 1069 went into effect January 1st of 2017, and SB1069 prohibits a local government from adopting an ordinance that precludes ADUs also known as Accessory Dwelling Units or Granny Units or in-law units. They have also included a sub-category for Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (JADU).
